Learning Opportunities

Opportunities for Learning at BCHBC

No matter your age or level of experience, BCHBC offers many opportunities to learn and grow as a horseperson. Education can happen in simple ways—by joining fellow members on a trail ride or sitting around a campfire. The experience and expertise shared by other members can provide a wealth of knowledge on a wide range of topics.

At regular meetings, Chapters often invite guest speakers who provide valuable information on subjects such as:

  • First aid on the trail
  • Hoof care
  • Interacting with wildlife
  • Saddle fitting
  • Trailer safety
  • Wilderness skills
  • Pasture management
  • Camping skills

Chapters also organize clinics for members and their mounts, some examples include:

  • Trail riding skills
  • Obstacle courses
  • Trailer loading
  • Horsemanship
  • Hobbling and highlining
  • Packing skills
  • GPS skills

Attending the annual BCHBC Rendezvous (RV) provides another level of learning. This event brings members from all Chapters together to share expertise and knowledge. Participants can take part in a wide range of demonstrations and hands-on clinics.
