Keeping the Trails Open

It All Starts with Volunteers

For more than 35 years, Back Country Horsemen of BC members have generously volunteered their time and skills to benefit recreational trail riders and other trail user groups across the province. Since 2000 alone, BCHBC volunteer contributions have exceeded $2 million in value, supporting a wide range of trail and infrastructure projects.

BCHBC plays an active role in developing, constructing, and maintaining trails, infrastructure, and equestrian-friendly camp facilities throughout British Columbia. Our work helps ensure safe, accessible, and enjoyable trail experiences for both backcountry and front-country users.

Over the years, BCHBC has built strong, collaborative relationships with government agencies, including municipal and regional districts, BC Parks, and Recreation Sites & Trails BC. Together, we support initiatives that enhance trail access and recreational opportunities for equestrians and other trail users within local communities.

Without the dedication of our volunteers, BCHBC members would not have hundreds of miles of trails or more than 20 equestrian friendly camps across the province for members and the public to enjoy. Member commitment is the foundation of everything we do.
