BCHBC Outstanding Project of the Year Award Nomination Form

The BCHBC Award of Excellence for an Outstanding Project is awarded to a team of BCHBC members or a BCHBC chapter that has developed, executed and completed an outstanding project that exemplifies the mission and vision of BCHBC.

• Qualifying projects must be completed by the year of application.
• Depending on submissions, the award may not be presented every year.

BCHBC Mission Statement

BCHBC is an organization that provides equestrians who are interested in trail riding and the backcountry with a social and safe learning atmosphere where people of all ages and experience levels can enjoy trail riding and the wilderness experience.

Through collaboration with individuals, government, businesses and other recreational users of public lands, we strive to preserve and enhance the use of public lands for all equestrians.

Purpose of the Society

• To work together with recreational groups, government agencies and the general public to promote awareness and understanding for a cooperative wilderness experience.
• To build new trails, trailheads and other facilities for horsemen.
• To maintain and preserve existing equine trails, both wilderness and urban.
• To promote educational programs in safety, courtesy and environmental awareness.
• To preserve access for Canadians to use horses and mules (equines) on public lands.

• Educational programs or projects
• Advocacy projects

Submission Requirements

Submissions must be 1,000 words or fewer and include the following:

1. A complete description of the project, including how it supports the BCHBC mission and vision.
2. Photos of the project, if applicable.
3. Letters of support or partnership from anyone who worked on the project with the group of individuals or chapter.
4. The time commitment involved in completing the project.
5. The impact of the project on BCHBC and/or the area where the project was completed.
6. An explanation of how the project can serve as a future model for other BCHBC projects.
7. A statement explaining what makes the project outstanding and why it deserves the award.
