The BCHBC Central Vancouver Island Chapter built and maintains Spruston Recreation Site and the McKay Lake Forest Trail network near Nanaimo.
The site serves as a staging and camping area for approximately 25 km of Crown land trails and the Trans Canada Trail. Access is through a locked gate, so visitors should contact the BCHBC Central Vancouver Island Chapter before their visit.
